HIGH PRIORITY: Monitoring health, fitness and activity is more important than traditional watch features.

A new study, which arrives just as Apple unveiled its first wearable technology device, suggests that the number one function that consumers want from a smartwatch is health and fitness tracking. 

According to data from research and consultancy firm GfK that compiled the opinions of consumers in China, Germany, South Korea, the UK and the USA, tracking health and well-being is more important than the ability to display the time.
