Microsoft Mobile Devices Sales for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei general manager Bruce Howe and head of marketing for Pan Asia Gary Chan unveiled the company's new budget friendly Lumia 530 smartphone at a press event in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Microsoft has unveiled its most affordable Windows Phone yet, the Lumia 530. The smartphone will go on sale for just RM355 on Aug 16.

The smartphone, which will be available in four colours — green, orange, white or dark grey —  has a 4in FWVGA (854 x 480-pixels) screen.

Under the hood, it runs on a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, and has 4GB of internal memory for storing apps and files. It also supports microSD card for expanding the memory for those who need more storage space.

The phone supports dual SIM cards — users will be able to connect to two networks simultaneously, say, one for business and another for personal use.

Microsoft is also offering 15GB of storage on its OneDrive Cloud service for users to sync, store and access files between their Lumia 530 and other devices such as a desktop, tablet or laptop.

The Lumia 530 is powered by Windows Phone 8.1 and boast news features such as Action Center which consolidates your notifications and a keyboard called Word Flow for speeding up typing.

It also comes preloaded with apps such as Skype, Microsoft Office, Nokia MixRadio, Here Drive+ and Here Maps.

Bruce Howe, general manager for Microsoft mobile devices sales for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei said,”The Lumia 530 is packed with power for everyone and underlines our commitment to bring affordable smartphones to Malaysians.”
