CONVENTIONAL cars may still be the popular choice amongst consumers today, but the Malaysia Automotive Institute feels that it is as good time as any to grow the industry for manufacturing electric vehicle (EV) components as it is expected to become the leading automotive technology from 2025 onwards.
“We have already established a footprint in the automotive industry, but what we want is to become the leading automotive manufacturer in ASEAN,” explains Asrulnizam Addrus, head of strategic research at Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI).
