STUDENTS of SMK Buntong, Ipoh want to use the Ipoh International Starwalk 2013 as a chance to meet and mingle with students from other schools.
Form Four student Afiq Zulhusni, 16, said this year would mark his first participation in the walk.
“I wanted to try it out after hearing about the walk from my friends as it will be a new experience for me.
“I am especially excited as I hope to make new friends from other schools during the walk,” he said.
Form Five student K. Kavitha, 17, said she was interested in joining but had transportation problems for the event date of June 16.
“If I could participate, I want to use the opportunity to have fun with my friends while meeting different people and taking in the festive-like atmosphere,” she said.
School principal L. Manoharan said students at the school would benefit from the exposure to a huge event like Starwalk.
“Besides the walk being a fitness activity, it is also a good opportunity for the students to get into the community and learn how to be a true Malaysian.
“By meeting people from different backgrounds, they can cultivate good values and understanding with each other,” he said.
