KUALA LUMPUR: Australian Marinko Matosevic played the role of party-pooper to perfection when he sent compatriot Nick Kyrgios – dubbed the ‘half-kampung kid” by the organisers – packing in the first round of the Malaysian Open ATP 250 tennis tournament.
The 29-year-old Matosevic needed 93 minutes to oust rising star Kyrgios – exactly 10 years his junior – 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-3) at the Putra Stadium on Tuesday.
