PETALING JAYA: The worsening haze dashed teenager Welson Sim’s chance to fight for a first-ever medal for Malaysia in the FINA Swimming World Cup at the OCBC Aquatics Centre in Singapore.
The in-form Welson and team-mate Kevin Yeap qualified for the men’s 400m freestyle final on Saturday, but the organisers were forced to call off the entire evening session after the haze reached an unhealthy level.
