KAZAN, Russia (Reuters) - Katie Ledecky of the United States set a new world record for the women's 1500 metres freestyle at the world swimming championships on Monday.
Ledecky's time of 15 minutes 27.71 seconds in the morning heats broke her previous mark of 15:28.36 set at the Pan Pacific Championships in August 2014.
