Mohd Syafiq grabs last squash ticket to SEA Games

PETALING JAYA: National back-up player Mohd Syafiq Kamal got the better of senior Mohd Hannan Tarmidi in the selection trials to earn a place in the SEA Games squash squad.

The 18-year-old Syafiq outplayed the 20-year-old Hannan 11-5, 11-6, 11-4 at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil on Thursday to clinch the fourth and final berth to the Games in Singapore in June. The others in the men’s squad are Mohd Addeen Idrakie, Sanjay Singh Chal and Valentino Bon Jovi Bong. The women’s squad consist of Vanessa Raj, Rachel Arnold, Zulhijjah Azan and Teh Min Jie.
