Winning habit continues for Nicol with Macau title


PETALING JAYA: There was no stopping world No. 1 Nicol David as she delivered yet another outstanding performance to win the US$50,000 (RM164,000) Macau Open squash championships for her eighth title of the season.

The seven-time world champion was in control from the start against world No. 3 Raneem El Welily and strolled to an 11-8, 11-2, 11-8 win in Taipa on Sunday. The 25-year-old Raneem, one of only two players to beat Nicol this season at the Malaysian Open semi-finals in August, was surprisingly subdued and erratic as she lost to the Malaysian for the 16th time in 19 meetings.
