ODENSE: It was a day of upsets in the US Open squash tournament when two seeded players were bundled out in the first round by lesser opponents in Philadelphia on Sunday.
Egyptian qualifier Yathreb Adel eliminated 14th seed Sarah-Jane Perry of England in the women’s draw while eighth seed Saurav Ghosal, who led India to the Asian Games team gold two weeks ago, fell to a shock defeat by Egyptian youngster Fares Dessouki 8-11, 11-4, 11-5, 10-12, 7-11 in the men’s event.
