PETALING JAYA: World no. 7 Low Wee Wern put the troubles of home behind her as she scored a five-set win over former world champion Rachael Grinham of Australia in the first round of the China Open in Shanghai on Friday.

Wee Wern who is the defending champion, almost skipped the tournament upon learning her father was hospitalised due to liver cancer after returning from US last week, did just enough to beat Grinham 11-4, 7-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-5.
