Dry eyes a worry for marksman Eddy

INCHEON: While some Malaysians like the cool weather in Incheon, it is a cause of concern for shooter Eddy Chew.

“My eyes dry up quickly here,” said 19-year-old Eddy, who is making his Asian Games debut.

“Having dry eyes bothers me a lot because I need to aim properly when shooting. I love the cool weather, don’t get me wrong. But it just affects me in a certain way,” said Eddy, who will compete in the men’s 10m air pistol and the 50m air pistol.

While the 10m pistol range is indoor, the 50m air pistol is in an outdoor venue in Gyeonggido.

Eddy, however, said all his opponents would be facing the same problem.

“I’ve competed in competitions in much colder climate than here.

“But I got on with it ... no problem. I will not use this as an excuse if I fail to perform well,” said the 10m air pistol national record holder.

The shooting competition will get under way on Saturday.
