SO, things are still looking pretty good despite a not-so-impressive win over Spurs last week.
We were barely great, but to watch Spurs ‘gift’ us four goals, including three through the most comical defending in recent times, always makes it a lovely day.
Small wonder that Tim Sherwood looked dreadfully lost for words and almost in tears as he lambasted his team publicly.
That aside, what’s important is that we continue to set the pace.
With Liverpool and Arsenal both having tricky fixtures this weekend, this is a good chance for us to go 10 points clear at the top.
Of course, there’s Aston Villa, who have always bugged us a little every season or two.
The Blues can’t expect the Villans to just roll over and hand them all three points, not since they are fighting to avoid getting sucked into the relegation dogfight.
With the big and strong Christian Benteke fit and scoring goals once more, it’s not difficult to figure out Villa’s game plan.
But even Benteke will find good old Mr Chelsea himself, John Terry, a tough nut to crack.
While lacking pace, Terry still reads the game exceptionally well and his partnership with Gary Cahill is really blossoming.
Thus, if Villa are to get a point somehow, beating a backline comprising the very formidable Terry-Cahill plus Cesar Azpilicueta and Branislav Ivanovic is a must.
Which just seems unlikely at the moment.
The Blues are solid at the back. There’s no doubt about that. But worries most Chelsea fans are the misfiring forwards.
Demba Ba’s two goals and Samuel Eto’o’s poached effort (against Spurs) have only temporarily masked the club’s need to be more clinical upfront.
But the team have too much quality in the middle of the park and should see off Villa without too much problem.
Keep The Blue Flag Flying High.
Kng Zheng Guan believes Eto’o’s celebration last week was simply brilliant. Here’s to hoping he puts one in this week as well.
