A DRAW away to Galatasaray leaves Chelsea’s Champions League campaign half done.
It would have been better to come away with an away win but a scoring draw is just as good given that Stamford Bridge is rediscovering its impregnable aura.
What’s more worrying is the fact that we seem to be losing our touch a little in recent weeks.
Now that teams are starting to grasp the idea that Eden Hazard is our main threat – scoring and creating, the Belgian is getting marked rather heavily on a regular basis.
That shouldn’t be an actual problem as the Blues still have an abundance of talent.
Unfortunately, the team aren’t doing too much good in sharing the burden with Hazard.
Willian, for a start, seems to have lost some of that gloss he showed towards the end of last year.
While Jose Mourinho definitely favours him for his hard work and willingness to run, there are times when you just have to make the right decision.
And Willian just isn’t doing too much offensively right now. Passes are going astray and his shooting has been off the mark.
Perhaps it is time for Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah to make more appearances in the starting XI.
Schurrle, in particular, has been mostly used as a substitute and hasn’t received too many chances to shine.
When on form, the German can be quite deadly. He just needs to play a bit more.
The defence also needs to help themselves by not giving away late goals.
The match against Galatasaray is a good example, and a few weeks back, West Brom were another team we should have beaten.
With that being said, the team are still in good shape and being on top of the table means more pressure for the rest. It’s a “catch me if you can” race after all.
Thus, it is imperative for Chelsea to cross the street to Fulham, knock the wind out of our London rivals, and extend our lead.
On paper, it certainly sounds easy, as Fulham have claimed the bragging rights of being bottom of the pile.
But, with our rather patchy form of late, anything can happen.
Still, I expect Chelsea to pack too much class and quality for Fulham to handle.
So Keep the Blue Flag Flying High.
Kng Zheng Guan believes Fulham’s biggest mistake was allowing Dimitar Berbatov to leave. Bring on the three points.
