Ex-StarSport editor Danker passes away


PETALING JAYA: Former sports journalist and StarSport editor Tony Danker passed away after a long illness in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. He was 70.

Danker, a Penang State Under-23 cricketer in 1965-66, was a sports reporter at the Malay Mail from 1968 to 1975. The highlights of his career were covering the third World Cup hockey tournament, in which hosts Malaysia finished a creditable fourth in March 1975, and the world boxing heavyweight championship bout between Muhammad Ali and Joe Bugner in June the same year.
