PETALING JAYA: Mixed martial arts fighter Gianni Subba is ready to get back to winning ways in the men’s flyweight at the ONE FC: Era of Champions in Jakarta today.
Gianni saw his perfect 3-0 record come to end against Eugene Toquero via a unanimous decision at the Rise of Heroes in Manila last month.
And this time Gianni faces yet another Filipino test against wushu practitioner Ruel Catalan at the Mata Elang International Stadium.
“I am very excited to be back in cage again after Manila ... when the offer to fight came from ONE FC I quickly grabbed it,” said Gianni.
The 21-year-old Gianni has to be wary of Catalan though as the Filipino is brimming with confidence after a recent TKO win over Cambodia’s Khim Dima to improve his record to 2-4-0.
“I’ve been training hard since the loss in Manila. It’s important to move forward and I’ve been working on my skills from the last fight,” said Gianni.
“I have learned a lot from my previous fight and I want to come back stronger. This time, I will be looking to finish the fight.”
Other Malaysians on today’s fight card are Ev Ting who takes on Indonesia’s Yohan Mulia Legowo in the men’s featherweight and Ella Tang who meets Indonesia’s Desi Rahayu in the women’s bantamweight.
