MUKAH: The Youth and Sports Ministry has announced that Sarawak will host aquatic events during the 2017 SEA Games.
On Sunday, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Sarawak has ample time to prepare because prior to the 2017 SEA Games, Sarawak will also be hosting the 16th Sukma (Malaysia Games) in 2016.
“Aquatics is among the main attraction in any major sports and Sarawak has been identified to host the events. Maybe there will be other events hosted in the state, based on facilities and infrastructure,” he told reporters after presenting prizes to winners of the Fiesta Mesra Belia 1Malaysia Carnival at the Kementerian Pembangunan Sosial Indoor Stadium, here on Sunday.
Khairy had earlier announced that Malaysia would host the 2017 SEA Games at various venues throughout the country, including Sabah and Sarawak. – Bernama
