GEORGE TOWN: Mohamad Syafiq Kamal got the monkey off his back after defeating two-time British Junior Open champion Ng Eain Yow to retain his Penang Junior Squash Open boys’ Under-17 title yesterday.

Top seed Syafiq, who had been feeling down in the dumps since losing to Eain Yow in the Milo All Star semi-finals two weeks ago, got his act together to capture a 11-9, 9-11, 11-4, 11-5 victory at the Nicol David International Squash Centre.
