Defending champs KL fire warning shot to rivals

KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions KL fired a warning shot to rivals with a 5-1 demolition of Perlis in their Group A opening match in the MHC-MILO-NSC U-16 hockey championships at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

The match started off slow as both sides struggled to take control of the game. However, KL who are bolstered by five returning players from last year’s winning side -- Mohammad Shahfirul Aqmal, Ameer Mohammad, Firdaus Mohd Anoul, Mohammad Khairulamirin Abdul Jalil and Noor Afiq Noor Adzli -- managed to turned on the power in the second half as KL took a 1-0 lead through captain Mohammad Zulhazwan Hashim’s penatly corner in the 46th minute.
