China prodigy Guan's British Open dream almost over

(Reuters) - Guan Tianlang's bid to make this year's British Open looked all but over after the 14-year-old Chinese golf prodigy dropped seven shots off the lead on the opening day of International Final qualifying Asia on Thursday.

The Amata Spring Country Club in Thailand had proved a happy hunting ground for Guan, who won the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship there in November to seal a place at the U.S. Masters in April.
