PETALING JAYA: National cyclist Amir Mustafa Rusli believes the two new riders roped in for the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) from Feb 21-March 2 can help Malaysia to a good finish in the overall team classification.
Mohd Zulhilmie Afif Ahmad Zamri and Yusrizal Usoff were picked by coach Aminuddin Sulaiman to replace Ahmad Fakhrullah Alias and Mohd Ekbar Zaman Huri, and Amir saw the move as fitting by the coach.
Zulhilmie represented Malaysia in the Under-23 World Championship in Limburg, Holland, last year while Yusrizal was a member of the professional outfit Terengganu Cycling until his contract was not renewed recently.
Ironically, Zulhilmie, has penned a deal to join the Terengganu team after the LTdL and the Asian Championships in New Delhi in March.
“Zulhilmie is a good sprinter. He is young and has a lot of guts, which is important in a field sprint,” said Amir of the 21-year-old.
“Yusrizal has a lot of experience while racing with Terengganu last year and will be useful in the climbs.”
