Norizman looking to nick top spot in CP130 standings

KUALA LUMPUR: Norizman Ismail will be out to steal the CP130 championship lead from Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi in Round Seven of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship at Teluk Intan, Perak this weekend.

The Harian Metro Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing rider, who is second overall with 98 points, believes he is in a strong position to head the standings following victory in Kluang last month.

He managed to reduce the deficit to just two points behind Zaqhwan (100 points), who crashed out of the 18-lap.

The two-time CP130-Expert champion is also feeling upbeat as he has sweet memories of the venue after winning there two years in a row back in 2011 and 2012.

“We have always been strong in Teluk Intan and 2012 is a good example where all SCK riders (Norizman Ismail, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali and Norizman Ismail) swept the top four positions,” said Norizman.

“So if the team engineers can produce another competitive bike similar to that in Kluang, combined with my determination to win, there is no reason why we can’t beat Zaqhwan for the championship lead this weekend,” he added.

Norizman also said Teluk Intan will be mentally challenging for Zaqhwan who will be racing in front of his manager, Shahrol Yuzy’s home crowd and he plans to use it to his advantage to inflict maximum point damage.

“But at the same time I do not expect Zaqhwan to flinch easily. He is talented and fast and I am certain he will still be competitive this weekend. So expect to see another exciting and close race.”
