Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi will be riding high on his recent win in Indonesia to extend his lead at Temerloh.
PETALING JAYA: Mohd Zaqhwan Zaidi is looking to extend his lead in the CP130 category in the fifth leg of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships in Temerloh, Pahang, tomorrow.
With three victories in four legs, the Givi Honda Yuzy rider is leading the championship with 75 points. Ahmad Afif Amran of Petronas Yamaha CKJ is second on 65 points while Norizman Ismail of Harian Metro YTEQ SCK is third on 53.
Boosted by his maiden SuperSports 600cc win in the Petronas Asia Road Racing (ARRC) Championships in Jakarta last week, Zaqhwan is bent on increasing his lead in the championship before the long break for the fasting month and Hari Raya.
The championships will resume with the sixth leg in Teluk Intan, Perak, on Aug 24.
“I am still over the moon from the victory in Indonesia. It is a highlight for my career but now it’s time to focus on this race.
“But based on last year’s experience here, it will most certainly be an uphill task. Our competitors will be very strong as well because a lot of them have improved their bikes,” said Zaqhwan, who finished second to Norizman in Temerloh last year.
