Hafizh hampered by clutch issues

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Moto2 rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah had to pull out from the Catalunya Grand Prix in Spain after a clutch problem.

The Petronas Raceline Malaysia rider, who put down an impressive performance to qualify for 14th on the grid on Saturday, had to start the warm-up lap from the pits due to the problem.

He, however, managed to start the race but lasted only a lap before he pitted in and retired.

“There was nothing I could do. The problem prevented us from continuing the race,” said Hafizh on Sunday.
Another Malaysian rider, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia), meanwhile finished in 19th position, 54.002 seconds behind winner Esteve Rabat of Spain who won in 41:23.197.

In Moto3, Zulfahmi Khairuddin finished just outside the points after crossing the line in 16th spot.

The Ongetta-AirAsia rider finished 20.394 seconds behind winner Alex Marquez of Spain who won in 41:11.656. World championship debutant Amirul Hafiq Azmi from team SIC Ajo, crashed out in the first lap.
