PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Jazeman Jaafar raced to a top-10 finish in the second round of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Alcandiz, Spain.
The ISR Racing driver finished ninth in the second race on Sunday. He was 13th in the first race on Saturday.
Jazeman, a Petronas talent programme driver, struggled for pace after a sudden drop in engine power and finished the qualifying session 11th.
Said Jazeman: “Qualifying wasn’t good and I felt that we didn’t have the engine power we should have.
“I also had quite a bit oversteer, which meant my rear tyres went off fairly early in the race. So, I just had to focus on bringing the car home in the best position as I could for the first race.
“The car set-up for the second race gave me a stronger pace. I was able to use this to overtake two cars and get myself into the top 10, which was very really satisfying.”
Jazeman will now turn his focus to the next round at the end of May – a street race in Monaco, which is a support event for the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix.
