SEPANG: Denied glory by mechanical problems in the final two rounds last year, Asia’s top lady driver Natasha Seatter kicks off her second season in the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) with renewed determination and an upgraded Radical SR8 machine.
The 13th edition of the Malaysian Super Series opens on Friday as one of the support races for the Petronas Malaysia Formula One Grand Prix in Sepang.
”I’m really looking forward to kicking off my 2014 campaign this weekend and I’m very proud to be racing on F1 weekend in Sepang, which is my home race.
”I thank SIC (Sepang International Circuit) for all the support they have given me over the years and for the continued support of my development,” said the 21-year-old part-time model.
Leading the championship after three rounds in her debut season last year, Natasha failed to score a single point in the remaining two rounds and eventually finished second overall behind Hong Kong’s Angus Kirkwood in the GT Open championship.
Natasha said the team have installed new gears to the Radical machine and made other mechanical adjustments to increase the reliability of the machine.
Natasha will be the sole lady driver in the series this year and she is hoping to gain more mileage for her upcoming GT season in South Korea.
As an ambassador for Sharksavers Asia, her car has been painted with the message “Racing to Save Sharks” for this weekend.
The opening round of the MSS will feature two sprint races, offering a maximum of 50 points to be won over the weekend. The qualifying session will be held on Friday, with the opening race on Saturday.
Race 2 will be held on Sunday morning.
