Ahmad Abdul Kadir of Motul Yamaha YY Pang hopes to make his new team principal YY Pang proud by doing well in the Cub Prix race in Jempol, Negri Sembilan this weekend.
PETALING JAYA: Motul Yamaha YY Pang’s latest addition Ahmad Abdul Kadir is keen to make new team manager Pang Yoke You proud when he competes in Round Eight of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship in Jempol, Negri Sembilan, this weekend.
The Sarawakian believes that he owes it to YY Pang for giving him the opportunity to ride with one of the biggest teams in the paddock, following a fallout with his previous team – Faito Factory Racing Team.
That fallout saw him miss three races – in Terengganu (Round Three), Muar (Round Four) and Teluk Intan (Round Five).
Ahmad admits that it’s too late for him to challenge for the CP115 crown but that hasn’t stopped him from setting his sights on a top-10 finish, following his victory in Temerloh (Round Seven) earlier this month.
The 23-year-old Ahmad is currently 13th in the overall standings, way behind leader Ahmad Afif Amran of Petronas Yamaha-CKJ (111 points).
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity YY Pang has given me and I want to repay his faith by finishing the remaining rounds on the podium,” said Ahmad.
“The target is to finish in the top 10 because that’s the least I can do right now ... it’s just impossible to cut the points gap in the standings with just three rounds left.
“YY Pang provided a very competitive set-up in the Temerloh leg and that gave me the edge over my rivals.
