PETALING JAYA: Zulfahmi Khairuddin returned to the top 10 with a seventh placing in the Moto3 race at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday.
It was a good outing for the Red Bull KTM team with all riders placing in the top seven.
Luis Salom finished fifth despite riding with an injured left ankle sustained from a crash the day before.
The Spanish rider managed a great result despite riding in pain and the fifth place allowed him to hang on to the Moto3 championship lead with 183 points.
Arthur Sissis achieved his best performance of the year with a sixth while Zulfahmi joined his Australian team-mate to tie for seventh in the overall championship standings on 49 points.
This season has been a tough one so far for Zulfahmi as he has struggled to find the limit of the new KTM bike the team are using.
His best result, thus far, was a sixth placing in the season-opener in Qatar in April.
Zulfahmi spent almost a month at home in Banting during the MotoGP summer break, celebrating Hari Raya with his family and friends, and he appears to have come back with a fresh mentality.
“This was a very good weekend for me and the team. We did a good job and we found the best setup for a strong race.
“I hope to be able to continue working like this in the upcoming races,” he said.
The riders will return to Europe next week for the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
