KUALA LUMPUR: The National Under-21 hockey tournament, which was scheduled to be played at the Seremban II hockey stadium from Dec 11-21, will now be played at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil instead.
Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) competitions committee chairman M. Gobinathan said that the venue was moved to Kuala Lumpur because the stadium in Seremban was found to be unsuitable.
“We decided to move the tournament to Bukit Jalil because one of the two pitches at the Seremban II stadium is not suitable for play.
“We wanted to use the Kuala Pilah hockey stadium as the second pitch for the tournament but because of logistical problems we decided to move the tournament to Kuala Lumpur.
“Bukit Jalil has two good pitches and the tournament will now be hosted by the MHC,” said Gobinathan.
All 14 states are expected to compete in the National Under-21 tournament in preparation for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Kangar in June.
Meanwhile, the National Under-14 tournament will be held in Kuala Terengganu from Nov 18-27. The closing date for the tournament is the end of this month.
