PETALING JAYA: Tracie Ang is on active rest but she is not giving up hope to compete at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Nanning, China from Oct 3-12.

After injuring her back in April, Tracie soldiered on to compete for Malaysia in the team event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

However, she aggravated her back during the team final after falling from the balance beam.

“I had some back pain after Glasgow but I also have some pain in the hips. So I’m taking it easy,” said Tracie.

“But I’m still training and also working on recovering at the same time as I have the World Championships to look to,” added the 21-year-old who attends two sessions of training a day.

The national elite gymnast has already been ruled out of the Incheon Asian Games (Sept 19-Oct 4).

Farah Ann Abdul Hadi who made the Individual all-around final in Glasgow is set to be the only Malaysian competing in the artistic discipline.

It’s been a far from a perfect year for the national elite gymnast.

Tracie took seven months off (July to February this year) to recover from various injures hoping to make an impact at the Commonwealth and Asian Games.
“There is no confirmation yet on the Worlds but I heard the Malaysian Gymnastics Federation might be sending three gymnasts so I have something to work towards in the coming month.”
