PETALING JAYA: Iylia Jamil was thrilled to bits after shooting a three-under 69 to climb atop the leaderboard on the second day of the PGM Malacca Championship at the Ayer Keroh Golf and Country Club.
With a two-round total of five-under 139, Iylia has a one-shot lead over compatriots Lam Yu Shuen (69) and Airil Rizman (70).
“I played reasonably well today,” said Iylia, who is seeking his second PGM Tour title after winning in Kinrara in 2011.
“But it is far from over and I have to keep everything in focus as we move into the third and fourth rounds.”
Overnight leader Gunn Charoenkul of Thailand blew his three-shot advantage as he struggled to a two-over 74. He dropped to joint fourth place on three-under 141 alongside countryman Panuphol Pittayarat and Malaysia’s Mohd Sukree Othman.
