Khai Jei and Princess Mary crowned champs in RSGC

KUALA LUMPUR: Perak’s Low Khai Jei and Princess Mary Superal of the Philippines were crowned champions in the boys’ and girls’ Under-18 category after the third round was cancelled due to heavy rain at the Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC).

Khai Jei and Princess Mary had taken massive 16-stroke and 18-stroke leads respectively after the second round on Wednesday.

So, when Thursday’s third round was washed out, it didn’t really make any difference.

Khai Jei carded a eight-under 136 total to finish ahead of Air Force Recreation Club’s (KRTU) Danial Mohd Sidek, who had a two-day total of eight-over 152.

The Philippines’ SEA Games champion Princess Mary scored a 141 total for a comfortable victory over KRTU’s Nyca Khaw, whose two-day total was 159.

In the boy’s Under-15 category, Perak’s Lucas Yee defeated team-mate Galven Green in a sudden death playoff, after both had finished tied on 147, to clinch the boys’ Under-15 title.

Defending champion Bryan Teoh could only finish third.

In the girls’ Under-15 category, Sofia Chabon completed a double for Philippines by carding a 148 total to win by six shots ahead of Indonesia’s Chiara Arya (154).
