SUBANG: Hans Jamil shot a two-under 70 to move into the lead at the halfway stage of the rain-hit RM350,000 Maybank Tour Players’ Championship at the Saujana Golf and Country Club.
Hans’s two-day total of six-under 138 puts him two strokes ahead of Airil Rizman, who shot a 67 on Thursday, Sukree Othman (69) and R. Nachimuthu (72).
Kenneth De Silva (71), Ben Leong (71) and Faridil Atras (72) were tied for fifth on 143, while Muhammad Rusli Johari (76) was eighth on even-par 144. Kemarol Baharin (71) was in ninth spot, a shot back.
Play was suspended in the afternoon due to the inclement weather. When play resumed, Hans stayed clear of the chasing pack with a round that included three birdies against a bogey.
Airil’s 67 was the best on the second day as he had six birdies on his card against one bogey.
Airil said he found the course tough and “happy that I managed to shoot such a good score in such conditions”.
“I’m happy I played much better than yesterday. Everything went my way,” said Airil.
“I see myself as my biggest challenger as this is a stroke play tournament and not match play.”
