PETALING JAYA: Malaysian golfers Nicholas Fung and Iain Steel are a step closer to sealing their spots in the top three of the Asian Development Tour Order of Merit after the final round of the Chang Hwa Open in Taiwan on Sunday.
Despite finishing joint 27th with a four-day total of three-over 287, Nicholas is still second in the Order of Merit with one more tournament to go. Iain stayed third in the Order of Merit after finishing joint 49th with a 10-over 294 total.
The top three in the Order of Merit, currently led by American James Bowen, will get to play in the Asian Tour next year.
Defending champion and local ace Hung Chien-yao won the US$120,000 (RM380,400) Chang Hwa Open after shooting a one-over 72 on the final day for a 274 total.
His compatriots, Liu Yu-jui and Lien Ching-wei finished second (277) and third (278) respectively.
The Tour will move to Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club for the PGM MIDF KLGCC Masters on Nov 7-10.
