PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s Nicholas Fung moved up the leaderboard at the Asian Development Tour (ADT) Chang Hwa Open in Taiwan as Hung Chien-yao of Taiwan strengthened his lead at the end of the third round on Saturday.
After a dismal 79 on the opening day, Nicholas fired a one-under 70 on Saturday at the Chang Hwa Golf Club for a three-over 216 total to move up to joint 30th from 39th spot.
Chien-yao continues his form at the top with a six-under 65 for an 11-under 202 total.
Nicholas is gunning for a spot in the top three of the Order of Merit to qualify for the Asian Tour next year. Currently, he is in second spot behind James Bowen of the United States.
Another Malaysian, Iain Steel, had a disastrous third round as he shot a 75 for a 222 total. Like Nicholas, Steel is also gunning to seal his spot in the top three of the Order of Merit, where he is currently third.
