PETALING JAYA: Five international stars swapped their golf clubs for frying pans as they had a go at cooking some of Malaysia’s culinary delights at the launch of Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) on Tuesday.
The launch was attended by defending champion and world No. 1 Park In-bee, Stacy Lewis (No. 3), Choi Na-yeon (No. 6), Karrie Webb (No. 7) and Tseng Yani (No. 20).
The golfers put on their aprons and underwent cooking lessons from KLGCC and Sime Darby Convention Centre’s (SDCC) very own executive chef Arnold Kwok.
Every year, Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia gives the players a chance to discover the Malaysian culture and food. This year, the organisers introduced two Malaysian delights to the players – “roti jala” and the famous “teh tarik”.
Australian star Webb and Taiwan’s Yani were not afraid to get their hands dirty while In-bee was full of praise for local cuisine as she prepares to tackle the course on Thursday.
“Last year was very challenging for me and I’m looking forward to playing here in Malaysia. It’s great coming here as I enjoy the different culture and food,” said In-bee.
Let’s hope the star-studded cast can cook up a storm and leave us all craving for more when the action begins on Thursday!
