PETALING JAYA: The Philippines were the big winners on the opening day of the 10th Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup football tournament when they thrashed Laos 4-1 in a Group A match at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.

Patrick Reichelt starred for the Filipinos with two second-half goals on Saturday.
