PETALING JAYA: Felda United coach Irfan Bakti has warned his side against underestimating Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) in their Malaysia Cup Group A clash at the Selayang Stadium on Tuesday night.
JDT II were handed a 4-0 thrashing by defending champions Pahang in their opening match last week while Felda kicked off their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Singapore Lions XII.
“JDT II will be looking to bounce back after the heavy loss to Pahang. We need to be very cautious and keep our discipline in this match,” said the 63-year-old Irfan.
Felda and JDT II have already met twice in the Premier League this season. Both matches ended in draws – 2-2 and 1-1.
“I think we have a slight advantage this time. They’re under a lot of pressure to win.
“We had a good chance to beat the Lions, but we wasted our opportunities. We need to make sure that we convert the chances tomorrow or we might end up paying a heavy price.”
Irfan guided Felda to second in the Premier League to earn promotion to next season’s Super League. JDT II, on the other hand, finished fifth after scoring 30 goals and conceding 26.
“JDT II’s defence is a bit shaky. We need to take advantage to get our first win,” said Irfan.
