(Reuters) - Liverpool can take confidence from last season into the new campaign starting this weekend despite missing out on a first English championship for 24 years, manager Brendan Rodgers said on Friday.

With three games to play last April, the Merseyside club were hot favourites to win the title for the first time since 1990.
