PETALING JAYA: Football nomad Indra Putra Mahayuddin has warned all other teams not to underestimate the Settlers.
“Please don’t take us (Felda United) for granted,” said Indra, after the Premier League club side’s historic qualification to the FA Cup final.
On Saturday, Felda upstaged defending champions Kelantan in the semi-finals when they pipped the east coast side on the away goals rule after both teams were tied 5-5 on aggregate.
Indra said they are set to inflict more damage on the big boys after having beat three Super League teams en route to the final. They defeated Negri Sembilan 1-0 (first round) followed by Sime Darby FC 1-0 (second round) before pipping Sarawak 2-2 on aggregate on the away goals rule in the quarter-finals.
The 32-year-old former international, who has played for six different teams since his debut with Perak in 1998, said he is looking for more success after having last helped Kelantan win the treble (Super League, FA and Malaysia Cup) in 2012.
“I have not lost the hunger to win honours, yet. Felda can go far. We have a mixture of youth and seniors and the foreign signings play an influential role, too. Now that we are in the final, we have nothing to lose. We will go all out and try to scalp another giant - Pahang,” said Indra.
Felda have a gem in Liberian striker Edward Junior Wilson, who is the current leading scoreer in the Premier League with 16 goals. They have a work horse in another Liberian Zah Rahan Krangar, who has six goals to his name.
Besides Indra Putra, who has seven goals, the Felda team also have a match winner in seasoned campaigner Mohd Shukor Adan.
