PETALING JAYA: Kogileswaran Raj scored a hat-trick in Harimau Muda Under-16 side’s 6-0 win over Home United FC Singapore in the Asia Champions Trophy (ACT) Under-16 tournament at the Frenz Stadium in Janda Baik.
Midfielder Kogileswaran scored in the fourth, 40th and 88th minutes on Saturday to take his tally to five in the tournament. The other goals came from Muhd Najmuddin (12th and 55th) and Najib Abdullah (40th).
The Malaysians, preparing for the AFC Under-16 final rounds in Bangkok in September, drew 4-4 with Timor Leste and beat India Under-16 team 1-0 in their earlier Group A matches.
Frenz United Malaysia also stepped up their pace in Group B with a 5-1 drubbing of Guangdong FA at the Guangdong People’s Stadium in China. It was their second win following last week’s 3-2 victory over Phnom Pehn Crown FC of Cambodia.
Hafizzudin Zuki started the ball rolling for Frenz United Malaysia with a penalty followed by goals from Muhammad Alfeeq Zharieq Jasmi, Muhammad Naim Abdul Razak, Fadzrul Danel Mohd Nizam and Muhammad Fareez Jeffery.
