East coast debry ends in 1-1 stalemate

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu and Kelantan shared honours in a fiercely-contested 1-1 draw between the east coast rivals at the Sultan Ismail Stadium.

Kelantan drew first blood on Saturday when Mohamed Shawky made the best of Mohammed Ghaddar’s pass to score in the 15th minute.

Terengganu equalised in the 35th minute when Zairo Anuar Zailani rifled a freekick past national goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat.

Australian-born Malaysian Brendan Gan was impressive in his debut for Kelantan and even saw an effort go inches wide, to the relief of the home fans, who packed the stadium as early as 6pm.

Kelantan and Terengganu tried to get the winning goal by throwing in foreign strikers Francis Doe and Mamadou Hady Barry respectively but neither could do much to change the scoreline.
