Mohd Amirul Hadi Zainal, who is wanted by two teams - Pahang and Johor Darul Ta'zim - was seen in JDT colours in a friendly match against Tampines Rovers on Thursday night.
PASIR GUDANG: There were raised eyebrows when former national player Mohd Amirul Hadi Zainal was spotted at the friendly between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Singapore League champions Tampines Rovers.
The 27-year-old midfielder was seen “warming up” with JDT players prior to the match before changing into a white-coloured “Harimau Selatan”shirt.
He then spent the entire 90 minutes of the match on the JDT substitutes’ bench watching the game as the Southern Tigers thrashed Tampines 7-1 at the Pasir Gudang Municipal Council (MPPG) Stadium on Thursday night.
Amirul’s presence at the match certainly raised more questions than answers about which Super League team he will be playing for in the new M-League season.
He was originally listed as a new player for JDT but changed his mind, saying he wanted to stay with Malaysia Cup champions Pahang.
This came about when the Pahang FA claimed that Amirul belonged to them as he had already signed a contract with them for the 2014 season.
Sources within the Johor FA claimed that Amirul had also registered with the JDT team for the new season.
However, the Johor FA have not released an official statement on Amirul’s status.
Meanwhile, the Johor FA are expected to unveil their official kit and players for the new coming season at the Tan Sri Dato Hassan Yunus Stadium on Saturday night.
