KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Annuar Musa has announced his resignation from all football posts with immediate effect, including as president of the FA of Kelantan.

Annuar said in a statement on Friday that he hoped that this would clear the way for Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and the FA of Malaysia (FAM) to mend relations.

Annuar’s appointment to the Ministry’s Sports Development Committee was questioned by many as he is still serving an FAM suspension, which will only end on Oct 4, 2014.

The FAM deputy president was suspended on April 4, 2012 for making press statements on the performance of the national team and this was considered to be in violation of FAM’s Article 88, which permits only the president and secretary-general to do so.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) were also reported as stating that individuals serving suspensions by their affiliates cannot be involved in any football related activities. — Bernama
