(Reuters) - Zenit St Petersburg needed a rare goal by defender Nicolas Lombaerts to beat lowly Ural Yekaterinenburg 2-1 on Friday to return to the top of the Russian league and end a seven-game run in all competitions without a win.
Zenit, who have lifted the title three times since 2007, have 40 points from 19 matches, one ahead of second-placed Lokomotiv Moscow who host Rubin Kazan on Saturday.
