LONDON (Reuters) - European champions Bayern Munich led the charge into the last 16 of the Champions League when they beat Viktoria Plzen 1-0 to chalk up a record-equalling ninth straight victory in the competition on Tuesday.

Manchester City, who clinched second place in Group A behind Bayern, also made it to the knockout stage for the first time with a 5-2 home win over CSKA Moscow.
