JOHOR BARU: The M-League season may have ended only days ago but Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) have already made clear their intentions for next season by unveiling a strong squad line-up.
The Johor Football Association (JFA) have listed 17 new players, including midfielder Mohd Amirul Hadi Zainal, fresh from helping Pahang clinch the Malaysia Cup on Sunday.
The other new signings include Norazlan Razali, Mohd Asraruddin Putra Omar, Mahali Jasuli and Mohd Amri Yahyah from Selangor, and Mohd Daudsu Jamaluddin, S. Subramaniam, Mohd Syakir Syaari and Mohd Nor Farhan Muhammad from Kelantan.
Lions XII player Hariss Harun, Kelantan-born Mohd Nazrin Mohd Nawi of Negri Sembilan and Harimau Muda A players Mohammad Fadhli Mohammad Shas and Mohd Irfan Fazail will also be donning JDT’s red and blue jersey.
Although the squad list has yet to be officially announced, JFA had uploaded the list on their official Facebook page Southern Tigers.
The JFA are expected to unveil the new players for JDT and Johor in the next few weeks.
Johor are clearly determined to make JDT a powerhouse on the local football scene, having hired experienced Spaniard Cesar Ferrando Jiminez as the team’s new manager and coach.
JDT have also added more flair and power by roping in former Argentinian international Pablo Aimar and former Atletico Madrid striker Braulio Nobrega Rodriguez.
Meanwhile, JFA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim issued a statement through their official website, www.southerntigers.com.my, reminding the new players that they must prove that they deserve to be part of the team.
“To the new players, you have to prove yourself and honour the red and blue jersey while understanding that the fans will give you their support on and off the field,” he said.
“It’s time for the players to appreciate the kind of undying support that they receive from the fans. Win or lose does not matter as long as the players give 110% on the field.”
