PETALING JAYA: Harimau Muda A coach Ong Kim Swee has called up two new faces for the Mekong Region Invitational BIDC Cup tournament in Cambodia from Nov 2-10.
Armed Forces defender Mohd Safwan Hashim and Sarawak striker Ashri Chuchu will be given a chance to prove themselves in the tournament and friendlies against the Jordan Under-23 side in Amman on Nov 12 and 14.
The national Under-23 team will leave for Cambodia Thursday for the six-nation tournament and depart for Amman on Nov 11 from Phnom Penh.
Malaysia have been drawn in Group B with host Cambodia and Laos, while Group A comprises Vietnam, Myanmar and Thailand.
The competition in Cambodia and the friendlies in Jordan will be used as warm-up matches before their SEA Games gold medal defence in Myanmar in December.
