Homecoming for Irfan and Fadhli

JOHOR BARU: Two former Harimau Muda A players have returned “home” by signing a two-year contract with Johor Darul Takzim (JDT).

Midfielder Mohd Irfan Fazail and defender Mohd Fadhli Shas were unveiled as the latest signing for the Southern Tiger for the M-League next season.

Irfan said that he was looking forward to play with the team’s more experienced players including Argentine superstar Pablo Aimar.

“I feel that I can learn a lot from them and they can help me better my game as a player,” he said in a press conference held at Larkin Stadium here on Sunday.

Hard-tackling defender Fadhli said he felt that its time for him to contribute to his home state after stints with the Harimau Muda A in Slovakia and the Singapore league.

“I believe this is my time to contribute for my state following the Johor FA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim’s effort to change the state’s football landscape.

“I am confident that JDT will become a force to be reckoned with and I am very excited to be part of it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tunku Ismail said that only nine players from the current squad would remain in the next season including Nor Shahrul Idlan Talaha, Safiq Rahim and Nurul Azwan Roya.

He added that the association was still discussing with Safee Sali and Zaquan Adha Razak on whether they wanted to still be part of the team next season.

“We are also in the final stages of buying several players including four players from Selangor and three Singaporean players to represent JDT and Johor FA as well,” he added.

Johor FA also announced Nike as the kit supplier for both state teams starting next season for two years starting from 2014 and the official launch of the jerseys for the teams will be held on Dec 21.

Tunku Ismail also announced that JDT would be holding several friendly matches with top clubs from around the world.
