Sime Darby will be facing Sarawak without Premier League top scorer Karlo Primorac who is out with an injured back.
PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby coach Ismail Zakaria refuses to press the panic button despite being hit by an injury crisis ahead of their Malaysia Cup quarter-final second-leg match against Premier League champions Sarawak at the State Stadium in Kuching on Saturday night (at 8.15pm).
The first-leg tie between the Premier League sides last week ended in a goalless draw, thus making the return leg a crunch game.
And Sime Darby, with strikers Karlo Primorac and Togaba Komlan crocked, will clearly be at a disadvantage.
Primorac, the Premier League top scorer with 24 goals, is ruled out with a back injury picked up in training while Togo international Togaba has failed to shrug off his groin injury.
“I’m not panicking despite losing two of my foreign strikers for this match,” said Ismail, who led Sime Darby to second placing in the Premier League, earning a promotion to the Super League next season.
“It will be a bit harder for us but I believe our local boys can get the job done. In fact, I’m positive that we can win the match if we stick to our game plan.
“We will have to depend on team work ... discipline and teamwork have brought us this far in the competition.”
Ismail’s men will also be seeking revenge against the Crocs, whose 1-0 win in their last meeting ended Sime Darby’s title hopes.
“We know Sarawak very well and there is no pressure on us. We know the impact the Sarawak fans can have at the stadium ... it will only add more pressure on them,” said Ismail.
“Our players are motivated and determined to create history for the team. The crowd at the stadium will try to unsettle our players but we must keep our cool.”
